Prodigy Balance

At iStudio Projects, our ETC Prodigy Balance is an innovative rigging hoist that combines the simplicity of a traditional manual counterweight system with advanced safety technology and integrated digital controls. Designed with a maximum capacity of 545 kg (1,200 lb) and a travel distance of up to 15 m (50 ft), the Prodigy Balance is ideally suited for educational installations and performance venues where safety, ease of use, and reduced structural demands are top priorities. Its self-contained weight stack eliminates the need for loading bridges, while the revolutionary detachable clew allows the batten and arbor to be balanced simultaneously at stage level — virtually eliminating dangerous out-of-weight conditions. Combined with the Prodigy Compression Tube and the modular Prodigy Balance Guide Wall, the system significantly reduces both structural requirements and installation time. Positional readouts, lineset locking, and rail lighting control are all accessible through a compatible QuickTouch Preset or Foundation rigging controller, making the Prodigy Balance one of the most intelligent and operator-friendly counterweight systems available today.

Product Description

Prodigy Balance combines the functionality of a manual counterweight system with innovative safety features and integrated technology. With a maximum capacity of 545 kg (1,200 lb) and capable of traveling up to 15 m (50 ft), Prodigy Balance is the perfect solution for educational installations. By utilizing a self-contained weight stack and a revolutionary detachable clew, the batten and arbor can safely be balanced at stage level simultaneously and out-of-weight situations can be prevented. In the unlikely event of a runaway arbor, the Arbor Braking System, an integrated brake, controls the speed of the hand line and prevents the arbor from impacting at a high speed. With the weight stack installed on the stage level, loading bridges are no longer required. Add in the ability to use Prodigy Compression Tube and the modularity of the Prodigy Balance Guide Wall, structural requirements and installation time are greatly reduced. Positional readouts, lineset locking functionality, and rail lighting control can be accessed through a companion QuickTouch Preset or Foundation controller.

  • 203 mm (8 in) on center spacing
  • 545 kg (1,200 lb) capacity
  • 15 m (50 ft) travel
  • Up to eight lift lines*
  • Compatible with Prodigy Balance Head Block and Prodigy Compression Tube
  • Built in rail and index lighting
  • Positional readout, lineset locking, and rail light control displayed on a QuickTouch Preset or Foundation rigging controller
  • Balancing Procedure: Use the detachable clew to bring both the batten and arbor to stage level simultaneously before loading weights. This eliminates out-of-weight conditions and removes the need to work at height.
  • Weight Loading: Load weights using the self-contained weight stack at stage level. Loading bridges are not required. One Power Supply (PBPS) is required for every 12 linesets.
  • DRILL Tool: Use the removable Dedicated Revolving-Input Lineset Lifter (DRILL) to operate the self-locking gearbox for raising and lowering the lineset. Always remove the DRILL after use.
  • Arbor Braking System: The integrated Arbor Braking System automatically controls arbor speed in the event of a runaway condition. It can also be engaged as a lineset lock to prevent unauthorized operation.
  • Lineset Lock: Engage the Arbor Braking System as a lineset lock whenever a lineset is not in active use to prevent unintended or unauthorized movement.
  • Control Interface: Access positional readouts, lineset locking functionality, and rail lighting control via a connected QuickTouch Preset or Foundation HD Rigging Controller.
  • System Capacity: Each Prodigy Balance Power Supply supports up to 4 BC runs with up to 6 linesets per run (maximum 12 linesets per supply). Up to 24 linesets can be managed when using multiple power supplies.
  • E-Stop: Up to 3 remote E-stop buttons can be connected per run (maximum 6 total in Foundation configurations). Ensure E-stop stations are accessible and functional before operation.
  • Installation Configurations: The system can be installed upright, underhung, or with Compression Tube. Ensure the supporting structure is rated to carry the full weight of the system plus the working load.
  • Environmental Limits: Operate within 0°C to 40°C (32°F to 104°F) and 30%–90% relative humidity (non-condensing).
  • Control Wiring: All control wiring must be run through the RJ45 connector. Use Cat5e or better cabling throughout the system.
